Fatal February, 1st in the Mary Macgruder Katz series of murder mystery legal thrillers by Barbara Levenson, is probably free courtesy of publisher Oceanview.

I say "probably", because in recent weeks, some ex-Oceanview authors have apparently been KDP Selecting their backlist but leaving Oceanview in the official publisher field even though they're now handling their rights-reverted materials themselves. Either that, or someone over at Oceanview is somewhat lazy about properly linking their print editions to the Kindle versions and getting the books to show in the official Time-Limited Promotional Offers listings like they used to.

Anyway, free @ Amazon (available to Canadians and in the UK, which IIRC is unusual since prior Oceanview freebies tended not to be). I suppose the test of which this is will depend on how long it stays free. Generally Oceanview has left theirs around for the better part of the month.

Thanks for that. (Although I'm not at all sure it's possible to be "half Jewish". My rather limited knowledge of the way that Judaism works is that it comes from your mother - if your mother is Jewish, then so are you.)

I think perhaps they mean it in a "culturally Jewish" sense in terms of social heritage, like having a Catholic family background with the shared community experiences without being personally* faithful.

* Anecdotally, I've seen avowed atheist/agnostic people who had a Catholic parent and a Jewish parent refer to themselves as "cashews" over at the ONTD Political discussion blog.
