anyway to change 2 column lrf to 1 column mobi?

i have some .lrf books, probably originally scanned paperbacks done in .pdf's. i want to convert them to mobi format, and change the 2 columns to 1 column per page. 2 columns on that little screen is a painful thing.

i tried calibre, changed them into .txt files, then tried to convert to mobi, came up with 2 columns again.

i understand that this topic has probably been covered in the forums already, & i have been searching for it - regret wasting time reposting it on a new thread, but i really want to read these books.

thanks for the referral. will have to look at it when i can concentrate on it. looks like i need to do some converting, then other stuff. was hoping (hoping) for a quick & easy solution.

if there is one (a quick & easy solution), i'd really like to find it.
