For the people who are seeing the database corruption, how many books do you have in Marvin? If it is what I suspect is happening, then the more books, the more likely it is to happen. And is there anyone with a lot of books that is not having any problems?

@hokusbloke the user community around Marvin and Calibre is entirely populated by volunteers. When something untoward happens, like this disruptive update to Calibre 2.x, it can be frustrating. In my experience they do get sorted out in time - worth holding on for a few more days perhaps!

@davidfor I have 295 books in my library.

Hi @davidfor -- I have 581 books, majority 349 are in EPUB format, others in PDF, MOBI, AZW (I kept PDF there as I also swap with GoodReader 4 when I need to sync with iPad for reading PDF; I also use Moon+ Reader on Nexus 7 via Calibre Companion plugin).

Thanks.

1870 or so books in Marvin/Calibre
Definitely getting the corruption on my Ipad 2. NOT seeing it on the Iphone 5S

To the maintainers - let me know if there's any traces I can run to help out.

Followup - deleted Marvin from the Ipad and reinstalled. Appears to have cleared the corruption. Bit of an overkill since I now have to reload 1875 books, but that hopefully helps confirm it's an Ipad 2 issue The Iphone is still well & good. OH yea, OS X 10.9.4, IOS latest releases.

I just tried to connect to Marvin using Calibre 2.2 (rather than 2.1). Rather than getting the corruption issue I am now getting no apparent connection at all. Calibre 2.2 shows both IOSRA and Marvin plugins as installed.

An update. I backed up my Calibre configuration directory and then deleted it. Uninstalled Calibre. Installed Calibre 2.2 and IOSRA and Marvin XD. I am now back to the database disk image is malformed error:

Results of the bold experiment

[QUOTE=Philantrop;2914249]

Some adventurous soul might want to try re-installing Marvin itself, populating Marvin's library only with the provided ebooks and trying again to use the plugin.

Philantrop, I deleted Marvin from my iPhone then reinstalled it and tried Calibre 2.2 It connected nicely to Calibre and so far I have downloaded 552 books without problems. I did discover that there were a few problems with my Calibre library, some of the books listed in Calibre have gone missing from the library. I am investigating this but I don't see how it can have any connection to the current issue, unless of course this inconsistency was causing the problems I was experiencing.

FYI, I've had to do that every time I plug in my iPad....

You are not the only one....

Me too. It goes away if I re-install every time. I have almost 2000 books so that's not very practical....

Almost 2000. And, yes, I am having that problem.

Possible explanation as to how to database problem arose

When I was experimenting yesterday with reloading books onto Marvin on my iPhone using Calibre 2.2 on my Mac I had no problems until I reached a point where the process appeared to "hang" for 15 minutes or so when I was attempting to move some large books across (over 30 MB each). At this point I disconnected Marvin and force quit Calibre, almost certainly causing the db corruption at this point. I was unable to recover from this using Calibre 2.2, but did so easily using Calibre 1.48.

Is it possible that the Qt5 setup is somehow less robust at error recovery than the old Qt4 one?
