Silliness How many hours of sleep?

Just curious how many hours of sleep you get at night. Or during the day. After a full day of work, and then working on the Internet, I can't seem to get more than 6.

About 7 hours since I was a teen. Weekends are another story.

I usually go to bed between 10-11 and I wake up a 7am.

I usually conk out during the Daily Show (10 PM Central) and get up at 5:00 AM,

7-8 hours on average. Anything below that, and you don't want to be anywhere near to me.

how many i really get varies but i need a lot of sleep to be fully functioning, ideally 8 or 9. less than 7 and alexander said it best, "you don't want to be anywhere near to me."

I only manage 4-5 hours but if I find a good book it is less but if you asked how long you stay in bed it would be double what I sleep or longer if I can get away with it

4-5 hours ??? i slept 4 hours / night all through university, i still have no idea how i survived that (out of necessity, not choice, believe me) but i know i couldn't do it now. if i get only 5 hours of sleep now i'm a zombie in a really bad mood until i can go back to bed for a full night's sleep.

I think the least amount of sleep I ever got was when Harry Potter 6 came out. I bought the book at midnight, got home at 12:20, read til 5, then had to get up at 7 to sell them (LOL). But we were slow (B&N was across the street), went home at 12 and finished it at three. And I still wasn't tired!

05:00 is a time to get home and go to bed, not to rise. Back in my earlier days I was a midnight to 6 DJ for an FM station. In the work-a-day world I am not what any sane person would call a "morning person." My cousin in NYC says that she believes it to be generic as she is the same way.

i think you mean genetic, and i completely agree with you : my father is a zombie in the morning (if you manage to drag him out of bed at all) but he stays up until all hours of the night. and his mother is like that too although not quite as extreme. ironically i've heard that you need less sleep as you get older, this does not seem to be my case (so far, anyway).

7-8 - which box do I tick? That is, 7-8 on a regular schedule, or 6-6-6-6-6-14-8, or 4-5-bloodymurder-6-7-12-12. Left to my own devices and unstressed I sleep for nearly 8 hours.

Stupid mammal physiology. 1/3 of my day gone for flushing some buffers, memory rearrangement and doing some other stuff that could run perfectly well as a daemon job in the background.
