Kobo Touch Won't Sync
I've trying to sync my new Kobo for 2 days now and nothing. It just says Syncing Reader... This could take a few minutes.
Has anyone else have that problem? My original Kobo has no problem, and the help from kobo hasn't returned my email. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

Are you running the new desktop? When you sy new Kobo, do you ean a new Kobo Touch or a new WiFi Kobo--both are being sold.

This looks like the old interface, the new desktop doesn't have a bar at the left but at the top, or maybe I am missing an option somewhere. You should have version 2.0.0, use the kobosetup.com site.

Is the new Desktop version 2.0.0 exclusive to the Touch eReader, or does it also work with the WiFi Kobo reader?

I'm betting that once the rush of new reader installs is over, it will be a regular kind of update to people opening their desktop apps.
per info from ltr, I am editing and correcting this post. I don't think your link is correct. This is where I am confused. Quote:

You must make sure you download and reinstall the desktop pogram from kobosetup.com. You can install it over the existing version. This seems to be the only way to get the dialog box that allows you to setup and sync your new touch the first time if you already have an existing kobo account and the latest deasktop on your PC. I had the same problem as the original poster and this worked for me.

tooloio is correct--Touch owners should follow the directions that come with the reader and do it through kobosetup.com. Older kobos can just download the desktop application and go from there.

If I go to the Kobo web site and select "Free Apps", and then "Desktop" (same as your link, Taming), it downloads Version V1.9. But if I go to the Kobo web site and select "Free Apps", and then "eReaders", and then "Desktop", it takes me to the Touch Desktop. I'm asking if that one (which is V2.0.0) works with the WiFi version. ltr |

Hello everyone,
If you already have the Kobo desktop software on your machine, you have to uninstall it and reboot your machine before installing the one from www.kobosetup.com. After that, you get the right version 2.0. Good reading, Fred |

fyi to itinmind: I have the OK, a KW and now the KT and a Windows 7 Pro desktop. I did not need to do an uninstall and reboot of the computer. www.kobosetup.com nicely replaced the older desktop (I think it was 1.9 but I'm not sure now) and replaced seamlessly with 2.0. No issues, an no extra hoops to go through. Nice job, developers!

An added difference was that I seemed to have an extra book on the desktop and found that it downloaded a book from my Library that I had added as a "Wish List" as the next book I was going to purchase. The book icon on the desktop shows as Free Preview. It also loaded it onto my WiFi reader. I guess it will be useful to get previews now to see if you will like the book. Good feature. I also notice it takes you to the EJECT screen after a Sync. ltr |
