Just opened Calibre again, and both plugins are now at 2.5.3
Closed Calibre, opened Calibre, now both plugins are at 2.4.2 |

Both ZIP files you posted are version 2.5.3. If anyone else wants to look, the version number is defined near the top in common.py.
Whatever your problem is, it's not related to the plugins. The only thing I can think of that might cause this is if you're syncing your caliber configuration directory to Dropbox or SpiderOak or Copy or some similar service and something is going wrong with the sync process. I recommend making a new thread in the calibre forum outlining what's happening and what we've tried here. More people watch the forum than watch this thread and someone else may be able to better help you sort out what's happening. |

Yes, the library is completely separate. But I don't know if uninstalling calibre also removes the configuration directory, I would verify that it's gone. Open the configuration directory before uninstalling (see directions in a previous post for how to open it from within calibre) and after the uninstall is complete verify the directory is gone. Then you can reinstall calibre and choose your old calibre library directory and it'll Just Work. You'll need to reinstall all the plugins and make any settings changes again, but the library will stay as it was.

Chocky: Uninstalling calibre doesn't touch either the libraries or the configuration folder. With the problem you are having, I would try renaming the configuration folder. The next time you start calibre, it will show the setup wizard and create a new configuration. But, as the plugin zip files are magically being restored to a previous version, I would wait for a few minutes and check in case the configuration is being restored by some other process.
Other things I would check: - Do other configuration changes stick across restarts? You need to change something that is stored at the calibre configuration, not in the library. - If you uninstall another plugin, does it stay uninstalled? - If you uninstall the reader plugin, does it disappear from the plugins directory? Does it reappear when you restart calibre? - Are you sure calibre is actually closing when you think it is? Do you have it in the system tray? - Are starting calibre directly or do you have a batch file wrapping it? |

Tried adding a column for "Modified" and that stayed whether or not two, one, or neither of the plugins were to the latest level.
So I renamed the configuration folder run the setup wizard, and reinstalled all the plugins. So far, it loads the latest plugin version. So thank you everyone for your all your help, I'm a happy bunny. |

In Calibre Portable 3.6 I am unable to find Preferences>Change Calibre Behaviour>advanced> Load plugin From File. There is no jigsaw shaped icon.

Unless Kovid deliberately changed something that’s a calibre bug, nothing to do with the plugin. If it’s a deliberate change I can update docs.

New version just uploaded, introducing Python 3 compatibility. This version loads in both the released Python2 calibre and the beta Python 3 calibre. It should even function, but it's possible there's code paths not fully exercised.

New new version, dealing with Windows and Unicode not playing nicely together.
