Astak VS Jetbook (crosslinked)

To just start one thread, and since I'm already comparing both devices in the Jetbook forum, please visit this link for a comparison between both devices!

If anything I wished the Indent of the Astak could be made smaller. Other than that,it's a splendid device!

Are you talking the indent of the first line of each paragraph? That AKAIK can only be changed by editing the epub file, or using Calibre.

I did find with some purchased epubs the margins were kind of on the large side and when resizing the font to a comfortable size the margin scaling made it appear like I was reading a newspaper column.

Resizing the font worked somewhat, in the sense that there's more text per line, but the margins remain the same.
On the Jetbook, the margins are displayed much smaller!
It's an epub file, which have reflow by default, so there must be a way to change it in the OS/Firmware.Not by the end user, but by the company (who no longer support the device unfortunately).

Astak was just the (paying) middleman in the updates.
They paid for a branded and customized V5. (check out the V5 info in the devices WiKi)
AFAIK the only new updates are being done by other Brands of the V5.

If you do a Long press of the Number when you select a book, you get the option of using Coolreader or ADE.
Lbook has been doing mostly Bookshelf (the book list) and CR updates. I don't know what BeBook or Papayre are doing

Margins, indents and other items in ePub are under control of the ePub itself. You can modify the ePub to do anything you want but the Astak does not provide overrides for these items. Cool Reader is included but typically not used to read epub files in the factory firmware. But if you fool it to use Cool Reader then you can provide overrides for some of these items. The best bet is to upgrade the firmware to lBook version which gives you an option to use Cool Reader for ePub.

By the way, to fool it on the Astak rename your ePub file from xxxx.epub to xxxx.epub.fb2
