Unhappy Error cannot open database

Hi, all - I am hoping to get some help with this problem. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Calibre program. That didn't make any difference.

I'm getting error messages when I try to add new books, or update the metadata. Then I thought maybe the library file was corrupted so i restored it from File History, but still the same problem.

Running 64-bit Windows version on Windows 10. Here's an example of the error message details:

calibre, version 4.5.0

Something on your computer is blocking calibre from accessingits database most probably an antivirus progrm. Exclude calibre and the library folder from ti and you should be fine.

Thanks, Kovid, I will try that. Although after I entered this post, I found another post with the same problem and that person said it turned out to be a Microsoft update that caused the error condition.

Looks like Microsoft has fixed the problem now. All good.

Can you tell us what specific Microsoft update caused this problem?
