Pre-render and cache PDF pages?

Didn't we have a discussion here about adapting the PDF reader to pre-render the next page and cache it so page turns could happen more quickly? I've been using the JE Comics Converter to get my manga onto my iLiad, and page turns are dog-slow. It would be very nice if it would pre-render each page while I'm reading the previous one.

Actually, the standard PDF viewer does exactly that. Unfortunately it does not always work correctly. Sometimes with pages that need quite long to render, the prerendering algorithm of the iLiad seems to just quit and then the page gets rendered on page turn. Thats quite annoying. Anyone mentioned that to iRex yet?

Ok, so it was supposed to do that. I feel better.

I suppose I could file a bug with iRex, but I don't have a lot of confidence that they would do anything about it. It seems like one of our community developers here is more likely to come up with something that works.

Should I offer a bounty in chocolate?
