Virtual Library still show up in main library

I thought this was the way to keep books that your children should not have access to, but if they still up in the main library what is the point? I created the virtual library based on Series. I just input my initials as the series and it numbered them jcb(1), etc. They all went to the virtual library as they should but still show in the main library. How to fix? Thanks in advance for any help.

You have got it back-to-front. A virtual library is always a subset of the main library.

By default you open a library in the full view. A virtual library must be either manually opened to display the subset, or else set to always open in the virtual library, by going to Preferences ==> Behavior and setting "Virtual library to apply when the current library is opened: ___________"

I hope you realize that your children can still easily switch the view to the main library view, so this isn't exactly a secure method.

Virtual libraries are meant to be used for your own sorting purposes, and can also be used to restrict the content server. They may function as parental controls to a certain extent, but only through the principle of "Security Through Obscurity" which is not a good idea to rely on.

Also, you may want to use a tag rather than series to mark the virtual library's content. Series should be reserved for handling actual series metadata, and tags work just as well, without messing anything else up.

As others have explained what you see is correct and there is no fixing it. Virtual libraries in the calibre Gui do not limit anyone from viewing the entire library. That said, a virtual library can be set for the Content server and the content server will limit the end user to the contents of that virtual library.
