Settled for a kindle..
So, not a high opinion of the kindle but ended up getting one since it has the same screen as the sony does.
Anyone else have a kindle because it was obviously the best for the price but still think it's kind of crappy? The way they lock you into their format and make you break the law to remove drm to check out a library book seems rather crappy to me... Nice screen though. Not really worth paying double the price for exactly the same in a sony since most of the time is spent just reading, not rubbing your touch screen, but still... happy but not happy. |

Best not to "settle" for anything IMO. If a gadget isn't my top choice then I simply won't buy it - even if it is cheaper. Because a gadget I feel only luke warm towards isn't worth anything. I'd rather save up longer and get what I do want.
Luckily Amazon are brilliant on returns. So anyone who doesn't feel the Kindle is right for the should simply return it and look for something they will be happier with. There are a ton of other e-ink devices - not many with the latest pearl screen but I'm sure you could find something you at least feel happier with OP. |

The bunnies are cute.
OP: If you feel like you bought a substandard device then return it and buy the device that you want. There is no point in having something that does not do what you want it to do. If you want to read library books and the Sony is too expensive try the Nook or Kobo. They are the same price as the Kindle, can read EPub, and have Wifi and 3G/WiFi options. (Leaves the thread to seach for a Holy Hand Grenade, never know when the vampire bunnies might show up) |

I loved, loved, loved my (RED) Sony 505.
But when K3 came out with 3G, I couldn't resist. Plus with technology advancing so fast (the screen, page turns) I figured.. why not? I love my K3. There are things I preferred on my 505 (I liked the 8 buttons down the side, the 505 navigation...) but I love my K3 for what it offers. I use my kindle exclusively now but I'm def not anti-Sony. I do think Sony should have stuck with 505 and built from that.. as so many ppl love their 505's! So.. cheers to variety! |

Get the Nook which is about the same price and allows you to not be locked into B&N for your purchases and allows reading of library books without removing DRM and converting.
The only possible downside is the Nook does not currently have the Pearl e-ink screen. Also, if you are not in the U.S. the Nook may not be an option |
