Help with Kindle and Nook App

When ever I try to readri any of my books in either of these readers the page is a medium gray. I have tried deleted both apps and still have the same problem. I find it almost impossible to read in either app unless I turn the brightness up all the way.

I have tried to change the background and still everything is overshadowed by gray. Any help in fixing this problem will be greatly appreciated

I don't know about the Nook app, but the Kindle app has an in-app setting for brightness that is independent from the general iOS setting. Maybe yours is set at the lowest?

Yes, I realize the Kindle app has the brightness setting, it set all the way to the right it will brighten up the screen. But white is gray another place on that setting. It just seems strange I am having the same problem in both the Kindle and Nook app. In the Kindle app sepia gives a dirty grayed out sepia and black gives gray letters. Thanks for the help, still looking for an answer.
