No Gmail notifications
I use the Gmail app on both my iPad and iPhone, and normally get a notification when a new email arrives. About an hour ago, notifications stopped on both devices. Email is still arriving in the app, but the notifications have stopped!
The app hasn't been updated. Nothing's changed in my Gmail account. Notifications are enabled for the app (and globally). I've rebooted the device. No change. The strange thing is that the notifications stopped at the same time on both devices. An issue at Gmail's end of things, perhaps? Is anyone else seeing the same issue? Thanks, |

Thinking about it, this must be an issue at the server end, I think. Push notifications must be, well, pushed, and that's clearly not happening.

And three hours after they stopped, notifications are arriving once again. Plainly a glitch at Google's end of things, I think!

A lot of Google's services, outside the search engine and ads, came from what's known as Friday projects (at one time Google employees where allowed to work on whatever they wanted to one day a week). As a result, not all those services are as robust as one might expect. Of course, one should never look a gift horse in the mouth.

It can be a bit quirky of the timing of email delivery for me. I generally only use my gmail account when I need to send email to someone at a gmail account since the spam filter doesn't like my regular email address.
