If three is a trilogy...
If you call a three book series a trilogy, then what is four called?

Sometimes 'quadrilogy', although I believe that's more common for films.

"A trilogy in four parts." (Or five parts as the case may be - as per hitchhikers. )
As far as I am concerned the terminology goes: "stand-alone" and then "sequel", then "trilogy" then "series". |

That is how I saw it, till now. I want to release a collection of the first four books in the series and was wondering what that would be called. |

Don't get silly.
"The First Collection" and a General Name. Subtitle the list of volumes by name or number Look for a theme in those 4 and use that. "The Fire Collection." Again somewhere list the volumes. Don't confuse and make the buyer mad. |

A "Quartet". For example, Lawrence Durrell's "Alexandria Quartet".

Douglas Adams stuck with trilogy - even with the fourth book in the series. He introduced it as "the fourth book in the trilogy".
