Denver Public Library has Kindle books, checked out my first this AM. Front Range Downloadable Library (i.e., Boulder) also has it.
Very nice, very easy. Last edited by JDK1962; 09-22-2011 at 04:55 PM. Reason: Status of Front Range Downloadable Library changed. |

Has anybody else noticed that it seems like the libraries have more copies of the books now that the kindle option is live? I had (or have) several books on hold at 2 different libraries that I thought I was several weeks away from getting, and I was remembering the libraries only having one or two copies of each. Suddenly I've either got the book or I'm at the top of the waiting list, and the total number of copies that the libraries have is much higher - double or more.
I'm not sure about any of this because I'm just going by memory on the number of copies they had before the change, so I'm interested to know if anyone else has noticed the same thing. |

I agree. I'm impressed with the way they implemented Kindle e-book borrowing!
Wireless delivery is fantastic. I like that you can view the checked-out books in your account at Amazon ("Manage Your Kindle"). I have access to several libraries, and it's nice to have all the borrowed e-books displayed at Amazon. If you click on the plus sign in front of the book title, it shows when it's due. And you can return books early via "Actions," to the right of the book title. I checked out three e-books today. Now I need to set aside lots of time for reading! I asked my library about ebooks awhile ago, I might as well have asked them when they would be getting the transporter system installed by the look i got. The only way I will ever have library ebooks would be if I moved.

There area couple of libraries that you can join (for a fee) without being a resident. Free library of Philadelphia now has Kindle books and you can join online.

You might try searching for ebook consortiums or ebook projects in your area. They usually list the participating libraries somewhere on their web page. |
