which one you will prefer an audiobook or tts
audiobooks are large in size so add that download dollars to list price which is often higher than epub version, as a reader would you go for audiobook or just read aloud works for you?

I don't listen to a lot of audiobooks, and when I do I get them out of the library, at the net cost of my rates, which I'd have to pay anyhow. There are also a variety of well-stocked audiobook subscription services which would be a good option for those who don't want to wait for popular library books.
TTS is fine for a very short time, but I can only listen to the robot for so long. |

I was just listening to a podcast with a blind, avid reader who listens to TTS at many times the normal speed: that's just her way of inputting the words into her brain, as vision is for many of us. I couldn't do it, but more power to her for developing that skill. (Or maybe I could do it, if I put the hours into developing it that it requires.) |

I do both and like both. Price aside, there are times when I prefer having text to mark up and re-read. But I also do a lot of driving and audiobooks are better for that.
The ideal is to have both, something that Amazon has been doing for awhile with 'Whispersync for voice' and 'immersion reading'. I'd like to see them improve the Audible platform by integrating 'Xray' features so you can reference names of people and places, and navigate to references within the audiobook, and have 'real' chapter names instead of generic 'Chapter 1', 'Chapter 2' etc. which often bear little correspondence to the original book. |
