Thanks.
Lots of people were very upset, considering it "gratuitous," to the point where the producers and even Reeves felt compelled to explain, in some detail the "why" of the scene. They felt (shortening it as much as I can) that without that scene, Wick's actions were simply sociopathic and without any real justification--I mean, going on a spree like that, for a car???? According to them, they tried it with and without Daisy (the puppy) a dozen times and finally felt that without Daisy, it didn't work. The whole movie, I mean. YMMV, of course.

Yeah, I myself wasn't too happy with that scene. I was upset with Costner and his "shoot the wolf" scene in DWW, too. Sometimes, it's just gratuitous emotion-jerking (DWW, doesn't drive plot, just upsets the audience); sometimes, like with JW, you can at least understand what made them think that they had to use it.

My sister and I just finished the second season of Foundation, we really enjoyed it.

My sister is interest in The Continental, but she's never seen a John Wick movie, so we just started the first one (just got past the puppy scene).

Let us all know if you like The Continental. I'm ambivalent about trying it, considering how abysmal (bummer!) I found JWIV.

The first JW is done. She liked it. I'm easily entertained and don't mind the repetitiveness of the JW series. It's not like I'm going in and expect sparkling dialogue. You know what to expect with this series, which is nice sometimes.

The Continental is three episodes, the last one is released next Friday. So we might wait until then so we can binge. It'll give us a chance to space out the movies a bit.
