[Noob Question] Jailbreak Kindle

Hello,

I have a Kindle 8th Gen (2016) I think. I had jailbroken it before, but I have forgotten how to do it again. Somehow it took in the updates and now its un-jailbroken.

Now, everything I read points to the fact that the present firmware that I have cannot be jailbroken.

Kindle Serial No: G000 K905 xxxx xxxx
F/W Ver: Kindle 5.9.6.1 (3314440001)
Kindle Basic (I think)

Is it really that I got screwed, and I cannot re-jailbreak again?

Try to install the hotfix package.

If that fails, then yes, you're most likely out of luck.
