Sync devices

Hi there,

I have Calibre installed in two devices. I would like to keep both libraries in the two devices sync'ed, so that when I add a book to one, it'll appear in the other, so I know what books I have added in any of the two devices.

I have used Syncthing to synchronize the Calibre Library folder, but the metadata since to be updated only when I actually drop a file on the program's interface, so it doesn't seem to work.

How can I do this better?

How can I sync, not the files in the library folder, but what the program actually thinks it's there.

THanks in advance.
Manuel

Cheers, Manuel

You CAN NOT drop files (any method) into another Library.
They must be processed (checked in, Folders made, dB entry made)
Calibre is also sINGLE uSER. Only one process can control the DB.

Using Syncthing is one of the best method's... think about

Please describe what you want to do.. I use my Calibre-bibliothek on 4 devices - here.
But as in real life, Calibre is my bookstore. And as i read one or any book on another device, i do not need to open a second book store!
I only need place, time and me to do this.

What that mean (only in my use-case)
On one machine - here this is a notebook, i installed calibre, this holds all my books, epubs, newspapers and newsfeeds (rss)

On another machine (that's my 'mobile' notebook that i took with me every morning) i sync the newspapers and the newsfeeds. No calibre is installed here, i read the things with of course calibre, FBReader or simple okular .

Two machines are Android mobiles, i use pocketreader there to read all my things - no installation of calibre on android ;-)

And the last one is a (debloated) Kindle fire hd 10 with pocketreader installed too.

This all works well.

May this could be a way for you, too? Only one machine with the bookshelf of all content, and all others just get the content copied?
