Sony Australia to sell readers (finally !!)

In the "what took such a #$#** long time" category Sony Oz have announced that Aussies will finally be able to buy Sony readers in Australia. As the news report says they have to finalise a deal with local publishers first.
Presumably they won't be selling the PRS505 which is shown in the news report

Oh joy!!

If all comes together then I will hold off on a Kobo acquisition for my wife and buy a PRS-300 for her. Hope the pricing is competitive!

It would be a great move for Sony to sell the full range of their ereader as the PRS-300 compete very well against the Kobo.

It would be a smart move if Sony follow suit like the Kobo and price it here in Australia equivalent to the US (US price for Kobo is $149, roughly $175AUS + 10% GST = $192.50AUS, so $199 is about right)

$AUS181.77+10% GST=$199.95
To calculate amounts before GST, use equation PREGST=POSTGST*100/110
So for $199, PREGST=199*100/110=180.90909090909090909091... - round to nearest cent, i.e. $180.91

I went off $1AUD=$0.84US which is $175.97. Either way at least they are pricing it comparatively.

Even more interesting was the report on the Sydney Morning Herald's website that Sony wouldn't confirm whether is was just going to sell its current range of readers or a new model
But it did say it was later this year so it won't be for a couple of months or so. Just in time for Sony to announce a new reader around the time that they usually do
