disable Calibre Editor's auto-fill
It only adds mayhem to editing - I can pretty well manage without it. can it be disabled?

Unchecking "Auto close tags" does not disable the auto-fill suggestions. The list with the urls/file names keeps popping up and when you move your cursor right or left it selects one of the options, which is absolutely undesirable! ...

Sigh. Why dont you ever state clearly what it is you want in the first place? You cannot disable those, and they are not auto-fill, since nothing is filled unless you press up/down,tab or enter, none of which are needed when editing a HTML attribute.
Moving the cursor right or left does not select a suggestion. Moving it up or down, does. Which is absolutely desirable since you aren't doing multiline editing while editing a HTML attribute. |

WHY - do you say one doesn't need multiline editing? When I look through a scanned ebook, I very much do jump from line to line?

But it's generally easier to move through the text, it's very annoying when this feature makes unwanted changes ... A disable option would be quite appropriate in my view ... in MY opinion anyway.

@Aquinax: If you hit the escape key, the popup will disappear and you can do what you want with the cursor keys.
@Kovid: Most of the editors I have used that use code-completion have an option to turn it off, or select which parts of it to use. |

I have nothing against adding an option to turn them off, but you will have to ping me about it after the calibre 3 release.
