Wikiproof

I am right now reading a novel that has obviously been OCRed and then published electronically. Every 4 or 5 pages I run into something, like a "l" instead of a "J". I am reading it on Kindle fro PC, but Kindle isn't the only platform to offer wireless connection to the seller.

Encountering these problems I thought it might be a worthwhile feature to highlight the problem and enter a correction, but as a proofing tool, rather than annotations. The next time you sync the device (or application) the publisher/seller would receive the correction. They are then able to make the corrections themselves, and perhaps even sync it into copies already distributed. After enough corrections you might receive a gift card towards new purchases. A win-win?

Personally, I would rather send the seller a polite but firm message saying that I am not happy with the errors and general lack of proof-reading, and I won't buy any more titles from them until the standard improves.

I certainly wouldn't bother to make the corrections myself, although I guess other people aren't as lazy as me.
