Wish they'd update the font size options to allow for a greater level of size choices. On my Oasis3 Bookerly on 3 is too small and 4 is too big.

very large too large insanely large to... Even more large then insanely large And line height will get larger as well. Amazon wants to set things so they don't work well in real situations with real people. I cannot see why Amazon cannot add smaller margins. Marby 1/2 the size of the smallest margins. Also, the line height should be 1/2ed as well. I'm ot saying to drop the current settings, but add more. As as for the font sizes, I would added sizes in between each setting, I do know that some find one size too small and the next up too large. |

That's an issue I'm also having with my Oasis 3 using Bookerly. (That's why I don't use this font on this specific Amazon model.) I imagine there's an elegant solution using calibre. Perhaps a calibre expert can offer a simple solution...

As you need the size between 3 and 4 - just change, for example, the first four figures 6.96 7.92 8.4 9.36 to something like 8.4 8.8 9.2 9.36 Your new sizes from 1 to 4 will be within old 3 - 4 interval. Sorry, I cannot find default values for KOA3, you need to try. |

@Waylander
You just copy FONT_RAMP file to root (= top level) of Kindle drive and then restart your Kindle and that is it. Then just use Aa menu as always. You tweak the values, copy the file, restart Kindle and test the results on your Kindle untill you find the sweet spot for you. One thing to keep in mind: FONT_RAMP thing is in effect only for books in KF8 (= azw3) format, mobi and KFX would still used default/factory values. If your Kindle is jailbreak-ed and you are comfortable with doing a tiny edit of a single .jar you can redefine font sizes for books in KFX format : https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...postcount=1850 You would have to repeat that edit after every Kindle firmware update if you don't prevent your Kindle from updating. edit: Here are the default font values: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...&postcount=153 Last edited by shamanNS; 08-30-2020 at 09:13 AM. |

Thankyou both. I've got FONT_RAMP working and am playing around with the various scales. Should make Bookerly readerble again on my Oasis3

So, I used this font scale:
7.80 8.00 8.35 8.85 9.00 9.25 9.60 9.99 10.64 10.95 11.15 11.50 11.75 12.66 Now, Bookerly size 4 on my Oasis3 is the same as Bookerly size 3 on my PW4, which is perfect for me. |

Some of those increments look little to close and I wouldn't be surprised if changing from 1st to 2nd or from 4th to 5th size results in no (visible) change in font size...

I agree. The difference needs to be at least 0.33 or 0.34 to change the size by one pixel, but smaller changes might affect anti-aliasing. Maybe worth a bit of study.

Sometimes two are close, but you will see a difference in words fitting on one sentence or sentences fitting on the screen. I basically aimed for a the smallest and largest fonts I would find usable and then tried to set steps in between. Code:
original 6.96 7.92 8.4 9.36 10.56 11.52 12.48 13.92 15.36 17.04 19.2 22.08 25.2 29.28 try 1 7.11 7.55 8.22 8.77 9.33 9.99 10.44 11.05 11.55 12.66 13.77 14.88 15.99 17.11 try 2 7.75 8.00 8.25 8.75 9.25 9.99 10.64 10.85 11.05 11.75 12.66 13.77 14.58 15.99 try 3 7.75 8.00 8.25 8.75 9.00 9.25 9.60 9.99 10.64 10.95 11.15 11.50 11.75 12.66 try 4 7.80 8.00 8.35 8.85 9.00 9.25 9.60 9.99 10.64 10.95 11.15 11.50 11.75 12.66 Last edited by melksnor; 08-31-2020 at 11:52 AM. |
