Recipe - LRB now paywall-free

LRB is paywall-free recently, will the news recipe be updated at such? It would be nice.

Also, is it possible to add a news recipe for LRB Blog? if the comments for each article could be included as well.

The LRB site is only open to non-subscribers for a short promotional period to mark the redesign. After that it will go back to requiring a login for full access.

Unfortunately they have changed the method of login so that Darko Miletic's original script stops since it cannot find a form called 'login'. The login request is now contained in what the HTML appears to describe as a 'modal container'.

Any chance that the script with login for subscribers can be updated to reflect the change?

BTW Provided that the simple current issue script can be fixed I have a script to download previous issues which I'm happy to share with other subscribers.

Thanks, the revised recipe works perfectly for the current edition. As a token of appreciation I've added a donation.

I was assuming that my next-to-non-existent coding skills would enable me to edit it to shift the index page to previous editions but no such luck.

The address of the contents page for an individual issue takes the form:

https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v41/n24

Is there any chance of making an alternative script which would parse from a contents page of that form, so that it could be edited manually to download past issues? I tried altering the INDEX variable but just generated a find() error.

Changing INDEX wont help you need to change line 63 to use whatever URL you want.
