I stand corrected. I was going by the recently-released People Special on Saturday Night Live (SNL). I checked Wikipedia and it does show Pee-Wee Herman (not Paul Reubens) as a host.

While it didn't list Big Bird or Oscar as hosts, it did show The Muppets made a cameo on SNL so they may have appeared there. Also, The Muppets were cast members (using a set of, as far as I know, characters unique to the show) in the First Season of SNL. They were eventually dropped, although my understanding is they have made minor appearances elsewhere.

New trivia item: In the Pink Panther series of movies, the actual Pink Panther is a diamond with a panther-shaped flaw (Source: Wikipedia).

No man made thing can be visible from space. The factoid that the Great Wall of China is visible, is just a myth.

Over fifty percent of the world's oxygen is provided by algae. It's believed that up to ninety percent might be supplied by it. Mature trees actually give off less oxygen than they consume.

I say this only because I remember it, but "The Muppets" were some of my favorite regular characters on SNL in its first season. These were special characters created for the show -- not the Sesame Street Muppets -- and described as "Muppets who can stay up late." The skits were occasionally risqué and never highlights of the show, but I liked them.

Paul Reubens was in at least 2 non Pee Wee Herman movies. In flight of the Navigator he was the voice of Max the alien ship and in Matilda he was one of the two police men who investigated Matilda's father (played by Danny Devito).

In "Batman Returns" Paul Reubens has a small role as the father of Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin). He also appeared in the movie "Buffy The Vampire Slayer." (Source For Both: Wikipedia).

New Trivia Item: In "Cyborg" by Martin Caidin (the basis for the TV series "The Six Million Dollar Man"), Steven Austin's replacement eye could not see but could house a miniature camera that would take a photo when he blinks.

Root beer is made out of 16 roots and herbs. One of them was sassafras which has been banned in the US since 1960 for being a carcinogen.

There are an infinite number of prime pairs separated by no more than 600.

How do we know this? Is there some source you could point me to with the proof? I'd be interested to read it.

This Wired article has some of the details.

From having no proof that there's any upper bound on infinite pair distance, we've gone in a couple of years to having an upper bound of 600. The big step was getting a finite bound, of course, which was by a single mathematician, Yitang Zhang, who developed a proof that there were an infinite number of prime pairs separated by at most 70 million.

It may be that in the next few years we'll see a proof of the prime pairs conjecture (that there are an infinite number of prime pairs P and Q where Q=P+2).

And in "Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D." which also featured the Daleks as the villains. In fact in Invasion he mentions that he saw their destruction so though the movie was made later it is set in an earlier time (from the Dalek's perspective). Of course they've been thought to have been wiped out several times since then and just keep coming back.
