How about an MR World Meetup next year?
A meetup next year would free everyone's calender and give plenty of time to budget for fare and lodging. It should last at least three days.
We should choose a country that requires no visa and rent a place such as a (budget) resort that offers conference possibilities, bording, food and a city for fun and outings. We could organize conferences about Mobile Reading and open it to fans also like Worldcon does. Aww! forget it, it's just a dream. I would just want the opportunity to see you guys. A Mobile Read convention... I'm in! I'll willingly give time and energy to organized this thing, I'm ready for everything!
BUT: I think it should be in 2011 so we get everything organized perfectly. Dad, you allow me to ask for suggestions on a meet-up location? Thanks, so, everyone, please tell us where you think the first Mobile Read convention should be held! (so what if you are just dreaming, dreams can be reality too!) |

I love neuschwanstein!! I used to have a poster hanging over my bed after I went in high school! That long bridge was wicked scary though (I'm afraid of heights).
Oh, say! I just had a fabulous idea- let's make it the true melting pot of (wait for it) Hawai'i!! Oh I am so blessed such a lucky idea came to me just now! Think of the food and the cultural experiences awaiting you! And the sun and the beaches and the... |

Hawai'i does sound good Grace, it was in my dream location list. I was thinking an island of some sort, but Europe might be fun too, 'cause I could turn it into a backpacking trip...
Ok all, let's pitch in some suggestions and I'll turn it into a poll when we're ready! |

Portugal! (well, it is traditional )
Germany! (Also traditional) London, Eng-err-land Paris - it could be the largest apero ever! (But 3 days is a bit long to wait for dinner ) Somewhere else in Europe |

I think Captain Pinktoe should host it, say February 2011.

I rather like the idea of ICELAND! Most likely, few members have ever been there. The bank collapse probably means the prices are good and they could use all the visitors they can get. And just think of all the cool activities we could have!
- Toss a Kindle into a volcanic vent to test it's thermal resistance properties. - Throw a Kindle onto a glacier and watch it...uh...glace. - Play Hide the Kindle where we try to find one in the snow. - A trebuchet contest where we see who can chuck a Kindle the farthest (just pick your continental target first). - Have a Missed Universe pageant where we select the most beautiful Kindle. The mind fairly boggles at the possibilities. |
