I've not really experienced many performance problems with it. I think I just prefer the continuous page format of evince over the default pdf reader, which will probably cause a bit of a performance hit as it caches the next pages.

Use my N800 almost exclusively for reading, in places where an E-ink device is a bother to use, or where I want it to be inconspicuous. I bought it hoping an Internet tablet device would suit getting online when I'm out and about, but it is much too slow for me. I don't see it getting replaced as a book reader though, it is much too easy to slip into my pocket.
