DRM surprise appearance after transfert computer to Fire
My new Kindle Fire HD 7 unit claims a DRM block over several titles transferred from my computer-based Calibre to the Kindle yet these were transferable to my old Kindle Wireless Reading Device without any hitch. The HD unit asks to "remove item from device and download it again or purchase a copy form the Kindle store". Suggestions ?

How did the books get into calibre. Are the copies in calibre readable or locked?

You originally added DRMed books that were locked to the old Kindle.
You cold transfer them to the old Kindle and read them -- but if you tried reading them with the calibre ebook-viewer it would fail. And neither can the new Kindle read it. Kindle DRM is per-device. See: http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com for DRM removal techniques. |
