BNVR300 Battery drain

I would charge the Nook, it would last 2 weeks. Within the past few weeks, the battery lasts 2-3 days. I've done nothing different, no new books, still on the same book.

Why the change in battery life all of a sudden??

Have you tried rebooting the device? That's generally the first thing to do when funny things start happening.

The nook STR is old. It's most likely the battery has had it. It looks like you'll need to buy a new Reader. My suggestion is to buy a Reader that can handle ePub so as long as you can strip DRM, you can keep reading the ePub you already have.

Batteries do of course fail, but what Bob describes doesn't sound like battery failure to me. The capacity of a lithium battery slowly declines as the battery ages, and at some point it'll just stop working completely. A sudden step-change in runtime, but the device still working, is much more characteristic of a rogue process on the device than battery failure.

The battery goes so low that the device shuts off and shows the screen saying battery too weak to run the Nook. Is this equivalent to a full shut off?

My recommendation is to do a full factory reset to see if that fixes the problem.

New batteries for the Nook are inexpensive here are links that include the replacement battery and the tools needed. Ebay Amazon

You will lose everything on the nook.

From http://nooktalk.net/nook-faq/article...m-restore.html
Quote:
  • Press Settings on the touch pad, then Device, then "Unregister your Nook"
  • Below that press "reset to factory settings" & Confirm
  • It should reboot and be restored to the latest firmware you have installed.
The second procedure restores you nook to the original firmware so only do it as a last resort after trying the first one.
