Seeing Highlights made on Kindle in Calibre
Hello

Perhaps this is an FAQ? But I'm forever after the holy grail of exporting Kindle Highlights in such a way that isn't hobbled by the quantity limit that is applied to what goes in the My Clippings file. We can't see Kindle highlights in the Calibre application can we? I wouldn't be averse to manually copying and pasting them out, if that were possible...

Try the Annotations plugin - much easier than using My Clippings.

Easier, but, it is just reading the My Clippings.txt file.

Sorry, I have no idea what you mean by the "quantity limit". The issue that I see with the My Clippings.txt file is that it is basically a log of the annotations made on the device. It records the annotations made, but, I do not believe anything is ever removed from it. I suppose it might be pruned at some point, but, I haven't heard of whether this happens or not.

yes the quantity limit stops you exporting 'too many' highlights. After a certain number of highlights are added, it stops putting the highlight text in MyClippings.txt. Each entry after that point just says "limit reached" or words to that effect. At least that's the case on my Voyage.

Kindle books have a "clipping" limit. It prevent users from selecting/copying/pasting the entire contents of a book.

Old thread I know - but sharing in case people need it.

A quantity limit in processing a My Clippings file is something that I've also faced even when looking through all the free tools available..

I recently created a free tool that would let you process all your highlights in your My Clippings file and return it all as an Excel CSV (with no limit!) where you can then look at all your highlights for each of your books grouped together.

I think it's something that would address this pain point - so sharing a link below if anyone comes across this.

Not going to work unfortunately - the clipping limit takes effect before the highlights get to the MyClippings file in the first place…
