Does anyone have any info on the $150 in free books from connect? I can't find any info on how to redeem it or a rebate form or anything.

Well, it'd be hard to photograph it, since it's totally transparent. Duh.

Merged threads because I got confused trying to keep track of two threads on the same subject.

Never mind I found it. A bit deceiving. it's $50 to spend and $99 worth of 50 sony formatted classic novels. Ones you could get for free if you were enterprising. Oh well I'm still happy. I didn't get the $50 with my other reader.

This whole situation is odd.
This whole situation is odd. At the $100 price point it 1000 units were sold out in 24 hours? Is anyone here an economics major? If sony can sell the PS3 at a loss to sell games why can’t they sell the Reader at a loss? Or at least break even? The reader, I feel, can be as big as the iPod. As for the people that can’t afford the $350 all I can say is that it’s well worth the money if you like to read. It’s like we’re in the Old West, circa Little House on the Prairie. In those days apparently whole families would save up a year to buy ONE book. I’m sure you guys can skip lunch for 2 or 3 months to buy the eReader. Knowing what I know now about the Reader I would skip lunch for 3 months for it. That being said, it looks like Sony has to lower their prices. I wish everyone could own a Reader. Then we can look down on the Ipod people lol (owns a MP3 player).

The difference between the PS3 and the Reader is that Sony gets to make up money on PS3 games, but doesn't necessarily get to do son on e-books. We're not locked into buying them from Sony, nor in a format that Sony gets paid by others to offer books in. If they sell them at too much of a loss, and the ConnStore doesn't make up the difference, and then some (yeah, that'll happen), then the whole thing goes 'kaput' and that's the end of the Sony Reader line altogether. Not a happy thought to me.
