699 AND a contract. Its 699 without the contract too. Why isnt the priced subsidized like a phone? Someone on Engadget wondered if they really actually want to sell any....

HTC seems to decide the tablet prices with their head in the sand. Why would one even consider this tablet at such a steep price? The scribe pen and sense doesn’t add enough to price it at $699. Somehow I get a feeling that they are not serious about android tablets t as much as for smartphones and came out with a 10 inch tablet just because every other manufacturer has it. Also, maybe they are planning to invest more in windows tablets as there are already enough suppliers for android.

And why not offer month-to-month data like on the iPads? |

$699 = fail.
I missed out on the $99 Touchpad so I'm looking forward to a chance to get a $99 HTC tablet. |

Actually come to think of it all of these tablets are over priced. . The data plan does seem to be cheaper only $35 for 3GB. Wasn't it $50 for 2GB before? =X= |

I mean, come on, data is data. Just give us back the damn $30/unlimited data plans with no contracts already, regardless of what we use it for |

And kill the phone business. If I had a $30/unlimited data plan, I would just buy a 5inch tablet with data plan and use it with VOIP. Nothing else needed (phone, minutes etc.)

update- the unsubsidized price is $849! http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/31/h...stream-brings/
this is why the whole tablet market makes no sense. they cant build them any cheaper than laptops but people expect them to be cheaper because there is no keyboard and they have mobile OSs ( as if a mobile os costs any less to creat and support than a "full OS") |
