That boasting seems a bit insensitive just now.

The leading edge of Florence reached us last night, coming in from the southwest. We've had rain since then and expect it to continue until late tomorrow night.
So, dark overcast skies and rain, but not nearly as bad as the folks just south of us are continuing to get. |

I KNOW! I took a photo of my feet standing on the bottom step of my front porch with the water rushing by. Luckily, the house was built up on a hill. And I moved the car up into the yard of an empty house in the back. I have never been so grateful for my furbaby getting us up at 4:30 in the morning.

Sunny and surprisingly warm here today, after a week of mainly rain and chill winds!

Heavy rain and strong winds since early this morning. We have a very strong cold front moving down from the northwest. Tonight we should get more of the same as the remains of Michael pass just to the south, but the cold front is keeping the worst of that from hitting us.
Good luck to you guys to the south! |

Yeah. I parked away when I got out of the office and waded into the neighborhood through a few inches of water. But it's mostly receded now. But man, the wind from Pttsboro to the Hill was brutal.

Michael has (mostly) passed through .... tremendous wind gusts (TV says Durham had 54 mph and I believe it). Power flickered/browned out, but still on (fingers crossed for tonight).

It's finally autumn here! The end of the unnaturally sticky humid hot weather ... only took two hurricanes to get rid of it ...
Had to wear a jacket today for grocery shopping ... saw folks wearing flannel shirts inside! Temps topping out in the high 60's/low 70's with nights plunging into the 40's F! |
