Folders on Kindle, Calibre metadata question
I have been trying to figure out how to do this with Calibre:
(from jktaylor on a yahoo group) "All of the book titles must be identical. Use the "Author" field for the document's actual name. If the book's title is too long, the "Author" field will be truncated. "When using Mobipocket creator, use book settings to change the "Book Type" to "News Magazine" before creating book. If book contains a "Table of Contents", it will show up as "Articles List". The files don't need to be together on the kindle." It works great--one listing on the kindle for each author, but Mobipocket Creator won't open existing kindle books. How can I change the "book type" with Calibre? Thanks! |

I'm not sure I understand what exactly you're trying to do?

One of the metadata items in the mobi file is Type or something. Kindle uses this to display articles in a periodical... almost like a folder/collection. I think the OP want's to be able to change that setting with calibre. It is changeable with mobi2mobi.
There's a thread about this, but I'll be darned if I can find it right now. BOb |

Ah yes in that case you cannot set that field with calibre.

Thanks! It shows the books as if they were articles, thus reducing the entries on the home screen to just one listing per author. My mobi2mobi gui has been locking up. I was hoping Calibre would do it. Much nicer!
