Droid Wordplayer and Calibre not working

I've had Word Player get books from my calibre server several times in the past, but now, when I try, I get a "Error in search, please check and Try Again" error on my phone.

The Access logs for the Calibre server show this every time I try:

192.168.1.108 - - [18/Jun/2010:14:50:49] "GET /navcatalog/4e617574686f7273 HTTP/1.1" 404 985 "" "Dalvik/1.1.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1-update1; Droid Build/ESE81)"

So, I'm assuming that the two devices are seeing each other on the network. Any ideas what the problem is.

I'm currently using Calibre 0.7.2, on Win XP. I have exceptions for port 8080 in my windows firewall and my router, I've even tried it while the Windows Firewall was down.

Any suggestions?

The OPDS feeds in calibre were upgraded in 0.7.x to be compliant with the OPDS standard. It may be that wordplayer does not handle this. You should probably ask the wordplayer developer about it.

In the meantime you can either revert to calibre 0.6 or transfer books by USB cable.

Thanks Kovid, I will ask them. In the mean time, where can I get an older version of Calibre?

Sorry to be such a pest Kovid, but now I get a "onedevice" error when trying to run the older version. I did a complete uninstall of 0.7.2 before installing 0.6.17. What is this error?

Here is a link to all previous versions of calibre back to 0.6.17. Scroll down the page and select the newest version that supports what you're looking 0.6.55 and stay away from the oldest version.

Hi!

I have a same problem!

I test the 7.x (10, 12, 13) and 6.5 Calibre version

the content server log:
Quote:
192.168.1.143 - - [08/Aug/2010:15:04:12] "GET /stanza HTTP/1.1" 200 3347 "" "Java0"

the stanza is downloaded but the navcatalog not found in the content server (404 error code)

if I see this link from localhost (http://127.0.0.1:8080/navcatalog/4f7469746c65)
The response:
Quote:

For me, downgrading to .0.6.55 fixed the issue... which leads me to wonder, what other e-readers for Android work with Calibre wirelessly? It seems that the authors of Wordplayer seem to have disappeared, as they have not sent a single response to my requests for help on this issue.

I would like to know which Android readers work with the content server as well. I tried to get Aldiko to work by setting it up as a local catalog. Aldiko could see the server but it couldn't authenticate. It may be a problem with a firewall or something. I'll have to experiment a bit. If anyone else has had better luck I'd like to know. I think there should be enough iPhone converts that there should be some interest here. I may even repost this question in the main forum.

I use Aldiko exclusively. I didn't like Wordplayer, either as a reader or for its calibre functionality. Aldiko supports calibre's content server perfectly on my phone, as long as you set the address to be the ip and port of your server, and then add '/stanza' to the end of that.

As an added bonus, I don't have to downgrade to old versions of calibre just to keep functionality. At least not right now.

I've now officially switched over to Aldiko. I've also re-upgraded calibre, and am using the most current version. Thank you guys so much for the advice/input!
