If you're really still interested in the free audiobook, you can get another matching Kindle book here. Kindle is $0.99 but the matching Audible is still $0. It looks as if Amazon pulled the original Kindle version that was free, hence the 404dog.

Actually, NOVA ran The Elegant Universe first. I don't believe I've seen The Fabric of the Cosmos, but I'll have to check it out now that you've made me aware of it's existence.

When I went back, I noticed that Amazon said the error was on their end. Now they're just saying that the page was not found.

Thanks. Got it. Interestingly, I already had the audiobook in my TBH queue. It must have come up as a Daily Deal. Thanks to those accursed deals my To Be Heard list is now (including the book I'm currently hearing) 86 books long. I've been better about resisting the urge to hit the BUY button lately which is good because I'm just now up to books bought before August 29, 2016 in hearing them.

First published by H. G. Wells in 1898, The War of the Worlds is the granddaddy of all alien invasion stories. Things then progress from a series of seemingly mundane reports about odd atmospheric disturbances taking place on Mars to the arrival of Martians just outside of London. At first, the Martians seem laughable, hardly able to move in Earth's comparatively heavy gravity, even enough to raise themselves out of the pit created when their spaceship landed. But soon the Martians reveal their true nature as death machines 100 feet tall rise up from the pit and begin laying waste to the surrounding land. Wells quickly moves the story from the countryside to the evacuation of London itself and the loss of all hope as England's military suffers defeat after defeat. With horror, the narrator describes how the Martians suck the blood from living humans for sustenance and how it's clear that man is not being conquered so much as corralled.

with the Tantor audiobook freebie I am getting an error message when trying to purchase it. It is saying ERR01005 exception when trying to add upsert customer to Newsuite.

I have also tried the purchase in another browser without adblocking. Any ideas why this is happening and what it means? I have tweeted Tantor to ask them but they haven't replied.

I got the same error message. I figured it would be fixed at some point; I'll try again in a few days.

I just tried it and get the same error. No idea why it's happening. Let us know if they respond.
