Sony Germany wants the Reader as quickly as possible
Sony hasn't really made a peep about their plans to release the Sony Reader device outside the US or Canada. Until now. In an interview with the German newspaper Die Welt, Sony Germany chief Jeffry van Ede revealed his plans to launch the Reader, being a "new growth driver", "as quickly as possible" while seeking alliances with local publishers.

Interesting. Not entirely surprising after the UK plans for the PRS have been hotly debated here for quite a while, but still very good news. AFAIK, Germany is also a relatively big market for Amazon, so it might be interesting to see how that one plays out...

I already got one PRS-505 directly from the US (and planning to get a 2nd) it would be very interesting to know, how much it will cost in Europe.
The price (of course because of the $-EUR Ratio) in the USA is amazing and with the Cybook the Sony has a big enemy here in europe. |

This is good news. I hope we'll finally see some more German e-books in Mobipocket format as well. The selection is very moderate at the moment.

Hope they have plans to release the device in other countries in Europe.
