In a big box in the storeroom

I also use this to document missing books in a series (thank you Kiwidude for Import List PI) as well as my Wishlist books. Others stash Audio books..
Lots of possibilities with the 'Empty Book' entry

Of course. There are many wonderful uses for it, limited only by your ingenuity.

Just not for creating new EPUBs.
