Have recently updated to firmware 5.10.2 and ever since my de drm tools are failing. Is there a way I can downgrade the firmware to 5.10.1.1? BTW I have the jailbreak in place and kual / mrpi all working good just the de-drm failing.

5.10.2 introduced hardened DRM for KFX only. So you have to use "download and transfer via USB" which will download AZW3. Just browse threads in Kindle (not developers corner) for more discussion on this topic.

I'm using a retail version of de-drm tool epubor and it used to work good until 5.10.1.1 but now its no go. This is not on the kindle device itself but on the PC and you need to connect kindle device to PC to read the content. Is there a way can I downgrade the firmware (since I have jailbreak already installed?). BTW, this is on my Kindle Paperwhite 4th gen 8/32G.

Neither the JB nor the firmware version on the Kindle can cause the problem you describe. The USB connector on the Kindle is a much tighter fit (water resistance) - your problem may be that or the USB cable you are using now. Other than that, your problem is on your PC. The only way to down grade that firmware version is by using the serial port. Due to difference in file system layout, our directions for older models is not correct for this model. TL;DR: No |

How to make "fake registration" work with 5.10.1.1? Is this affected by the file system layout?
README says Paperwhite 1-2-3 Can anyone confirm if /var/local/java/prefs/reginfo still exists? PS:KindleTool has extra arguments for PW4, created new bin file and it is running now on PW4 5.10.1.1. Last edited by Rockets00; 12-19-2018 at 11:08 AM. |

I attach fake registration for all paperwhite4 devices. If you need readme file, search for update_k5_reginfo_0.1.zip

@xRetroN: make sure you're using a *fresh* download of the hotfix.
EDIT: Nghh, scratch that, 5.10.2 has been released -_-". |

I downloaded the latest firmware because I saw everyone on the forum update, I didn't know that 5.10.2 is too new haha. I also guessed that you need to update the hotfix, because I've already found a similar topic about PW3, but so far I thought the patch was ready, because I downloaded it almost a week ago!
