How to read off line with calibre server with resent versions of Android Firefox
  • type about:config into the address bar
  • search for browser.tabs.useCache
  • toggle to true
  • exit

You can now download and read ebook offline using the calibre server ebook viewer.

It is because of a "bug"?

Looks like it is a bug, have added a note to the calibre user manual about it.
