Kobo can no longer select words in dictionary

Does anyone recall which version of Kobo firmware allowed drilldown within the dictionary? In other words, touch a word in your Kobo ebook, the dictionary opens in a corner of the page, then touch a word in the definition of that word, and the dictionary opens full screen, and then you could merrily continue selecting words in the dictionary to look up their definitions - without returning to the book you were reading. This feature was vital to a language learner like me, and seems to have been lost in the last 6 months.

Also, behavior in 3.19 is such that when the dictionary opens full screen, the Kobo "forgets" the language of the book, and defaults always to English. This happens regardless of the default language of the Kobo Glo, and even defaults to English with the English dictionary uninstalled.

I'm able to tap on a word in the book, then on a word on the definition displayed. At this point it brings up a full screen page, and I can't tap here. However I can type a new word in the box at the top of full screen page.

.
KOReader recently added more to its dictionary lookup processing, and you can now keep selecting words within the definitions. You can also poke the word defined and get a message box & keyboard to type in any word(s) you wish. There is also a menu item to bring up the dictionary box.

Luck;
Ken

I tried 3.12.0 and it has the "new" dictionary functionality: tap, hold, and release to bring up the word definition, when you exit the dictionary you are back in reading mode.
