Ability to Bulk Purchase?
I ran into a road block tonight. I decided to shop and add to my Kindle library.
But since I have to buy one item at a time, my bank decided that after 10 purchases, it wasn't going to authorize any more charges. Anyone else think we should be able to 'bulk purchase' books from the Amazon webpage? (And if you can, please enlighten me) Last edited by Aybara; 03-01-2009 at 10:07 PM. Reason: Spelling |

If you have an idea about how much you want to spend, just buy 1 Amazon gift card for yourself and use it on your Amazon account.
Then when you buy books it will come of the gift card and not your bank account. Amazon has never limited the number of books I buy using a gift card. |

You should also contact your bank and let them know that such purchases are normal for year and not to flag it on your account next time.

I know what you mean. I got a phone call from AmEx around 100 books into a 150-book series at Amazon Japan. Only then did I think of the gift card trick...
I've always wondered why Amazon doesn't let you use your shopping cart like any other online retailer selling digital goods. "One Click," sure, but I'd really like the cart option when I see 150 clicks on the horizon. |

In what way would using a shopping cart reduce the number of required clicks? You'd still have to click to add each item to the cart. There would in fact be more clicks required, since after adding all the items you'd then have to go through the checkout process.

However it would reduce the number of CC transactions Amazon processes (each one with a finite cost that is only going to be passed on to the punters)...

If I buy several books within a reasonable period of time (let's say an hour), they show up as one transaction on my credit card, and I only get one purchase email from Amazon with all of the books in it. It wasn't this way back in 2009 when this thread was started, but it is that way now.
Same for MP3 purchases. |

Credit card costs are a percentage, so it doesn't matter if it is one transaction or 50, as far as costs go.

Anyway not all of the cost is in the banking. It costs any business something to make a sale, on a per sale (transaction) basis. It might be vanishingly small, but it is finite. |

Not here in the U.S. It is as pidgeon92 described -- one charge/transaction for multiple ebook purchases in a "short" period of time. I have made multiple ebook purchases over a period of a little over one hour with only one charge to my CC and one invoice from Amazon.

Ability to Bulk Purchase?
I never use my credit card to purchase Kindle books. I buy a gift card using my credit card and then use that gift card to purchase ebooks.
Edit: whoa! I did not realize this was a four year old thread. Last edited by Gazella; 05-30-2013 at 04:04 AM. |
