Kobo Clara $100 at Walmart, Amazon and Kobo

Doesn't look like any other Kobo will be on sale (at least not yet).

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Kobo-Clar...bled/848940265

https://us.kobobooks.com/products/ko...ign=Clara%20HD

https://www.amazon.com/Kobo-Clara-HD...4903640&sr=8-4

If this screen is as good as my Tolino Shine 3 (which it should be) this is a really nice reader at a good price.

Compared to my newest gen paperwhite, the screen of this kobo is less evenly lit. Plus, the software is a bit wonkier. I like kobo readers, I just wish their developers were better at software.

But I like the Kobo software better then the Kindle software.

Yeah, well I still think Kobo's software (only) is better than Amazon's.

I think he meant he was "shocked" (quote, end quote, sarcasm) that JSWolf found the Kobo to be better (since it's his ongoing theme in just about every thread). Personally I think it depends on what features are more important to you. For my purposes I think the Tolino is better than the Kobo, but that doesn't mean I don't like Kobos (or Kindles).

I know, perhaps I've not expressed myself right, the strange thing for me is that I agree with JSWolf

For my purposes, I think I do too. The Clara and Paperwhite 4 are direct competitors, but the Clara has the warm light (more important to me than waterproofing). For me the quality of the screen and its lighting are the most important features in an eReader. And here I think the Clara wins (I can't say for sure because I don't own a Clara, but I do have its very close sibling, a Tolino Shine 3).

But the kindle white light gives me migraines. Kobo has the nice warm light.
