Loaded font but italics won't work
I loaded 'Bitstream Vera Sans' font on my Touch and noticed that italics won't work. It shows up looking regular. When I use other fonts, the italic word or phrase are showing up properly, but not for this one. I have the same font files on my Cybook Opus using the same ePub and it works on that reader, but not on my Kobo Touch. Any thoughts?

I tried loading Arial fonts directed from the Windows Fonts folder on my Kobo Touch. I named the fonts Arial.ttf, Arial-Bold.ttf, etc, but it doesn't work. In the font selection, there's only one "Arial" and it's the regular type, but the font displayed looks like Arial Bold, and words are also not italicized where they should =(
Is anyone else having this problem or am I doing it wrong? |

You only will see one Arial listed in the Kobo's menu; the other three files are just the different "weights"

Right, but the actual font in the book isn't being bolded or italicized where it should. It looks like the device loaded only Arial Bold. I definitely have the files named correctly (Arial.ttf, Arial-Bold.ttf, Arial-BoldItalic.ttf, and Arial-Italic.ttf), and the content of the files are correct. The last thing I can think of is that the book I'm reading is a custom one I loaded using calibri; would that have anything to do with it?

How does the book seem in any other viewer (ie ADE or Calibre on the PC)? Do you see different font faces?
On the Kobo what happens if you use any other font besides Arial? |

It's working now! I had previously loaded the fonts without naming them properly, and I suppose the device was using a cached version of the font from before. I deleted all the Arial fonts except for the regular one, then copied them back on again. Now it works, thanks PeterT =)
