Free book (Sony/Kindle/Nook) - On the Run [YA, Christian Fiction] + Sony roundup
On the Run, by "Bill Myers with James Riordan", which suggests a name-farming setup of the sort that James Patterson and Tom Clancy have become infamous for, is some sort of YA thriller with supernatural elements. This is free in the Sony store for Canadians and presumably others, courtesy of Christian publisher Zondevan's Zonderkidz line.
Synopsis Zach and his sister Piper are on the run, searching for their parents while protecting their little brother Elijah. Although he never speaks, there is something pure and supernatural about the boy that the powers of heaven want to protect and the powers of darkness want to destroy. A repeat freebie from several months ago, not available to Canadians, is the YA Christian Fiction: Sophie's World, book 1 in a series by Nancy Rue, which I stick here on the grounds that if you're interested in CF YA, you're already looking at this post and I don't need to find and bump up the older one. On the parental side, a Christian self-help book for adults, currently available to Nook and Kindle users, is also now free in the Sony store; this one Canadians can get without hoop-jumping. Great Parents, Lousy Lovers: Discover How to Enjoy Life with Your Spouse While Raising Your Kids, by Gary Smalley and Ted Cunningham Another Tyndale House freebie that showed up elsewhere first, Christian Fiction romantic suspense: Danger in the Shadows, apparently a prequel to the O'Malley series by Dee Henderson, free for Canadians A third Tyndale House CF freebie has shown up, this one some sort of general heartwarming spiritual story: Almost Heaven, by Chris Fabry, available to Canadians And an older still-free Tyndale House offering, not available to Canadians: Safely Home, by Randy Alcorn, who is apparently an unsavoury person who bears false witness, so you may decide not to touch his books with a ten-inch screen. Or you may decide that $0 is all he deserves for them. Your call. Yet another older Tyndale House offering, this one non-fiction and available to Canadians: The Questions Christians Hope No One Will Ask, by Mark Mittelberg and Lee Strobel Another multi-store book geared towards grown-ups is the GLBT novel: Michael Tolliver Lives, a sidequel to Armistead Maupin's classic Tales of the City series, also available free to Canadians. And now the Kensington thriller, The Cruelest Cut, by Rick Reed, a retired police detective, is finally free for Canadians and presumably others. Also free at Kobo. And an older murder mystery which was apparently unfree for a while, but is now a repeat freebie, available to Canadians: American Quartet, 1st in the Fiona Fitzgerald sleuth series set amidst Washington politics, by Warren Adler, who seems to have a fairly impressive resumé. A HarperCollins freebie, first made available to UK Kindlers but now available to Canadians @ Kobo: Fairytale of New York, romantic comedy by Miranda Dickinson. And while we're on the topic of more adult reading material, Sony/Kobo/ADE-ePub-compatible users should be able to make use of the many Samhain-published Nook freebies that showed up today. Normally you wouldn't, but for some reason all the freebie Samhain offerings I've ever seen in the B&N store are DRM-free, and this batch is no exception. Which means you'll be able to transfer the ePubs without having to strip and they'll just work on your Sony. So if you happen to own a Sony (or Kobo) and enjoy Christian stuff and Christmas-themed erotic romance, this is a good day for you. Happy reading! Last edited by ATDrake; 11-16-2010 at 10:19 AM. Reason: Found another. And also figured out how to bold links finally. And where a book fit into the series. |

Again, not free for Canadian Kindlers, though free for Canadian Sony-ites.
I'm rather hoping that Kensington Vancouver-set historical romance freebie becomes free for Canadians at Sony, so we can conveniently see just how horribly and hilariously bad they've gotten the setting. |
