Did you give this recipe to one of the elementary schools I went to? I tried stabbing it with a fork and could only get a few crumbs to chip off. I also slammed it against the edge of the table and could not break it in half. Needless to say, I did not try to eat it.

Sounds like Dwarf Bread.

Highly recommend The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow. Especially if fairy tale reimaginings with a feminist angle sounds appealing. It's also available at Kobo US for $3.99. (The others I check for there are discounted too. I imagine they are at other stores as well.)
