View/sort by Folder location?

Hi

I'm new to Calibre ... have hunted all over settings, but can't work out how to view ebooks by folder/file location?
I have a huge amount of ebooks which I have specifically sorted into folders and would like to list/sort them that way in Calibre.

TIA

PS ... Windows 10 Pro, latest Calibre version

calibre is a Library Manager, it stores e-books in a folder structure that approximates the way a Bricks & Mortar library stores paper books - by Author and Title.

See ==>> Want to change folder structure or file names in the Calibre library?

Add a few books to a library, and read this ==>> Search & sort

Well that's disappointing and silly ... there should've still been an option for folder structure view even if it's not the same as the main structure ... so self limiting, it's silly!
Anyhoo thanks anyway for reply!

No real need for an alternative directory structure since the whole idea is that the files structure and the database must be synchronized. Your manual directory structure fits that about as well as a goldfish fits a bicycle and compared to using calibre's search capability, extremely limited.

The frontend GUI does all the work and your eBooks are just there behind the scenes. You don't need to see therm. As the GUI does all the heavy lifting.

With a directory structure, you are limited to ONE (search) path per book.
With Calibre as the manager you can build your search using ALL the metadata.

Find a book:
By jones
Published by Baen
Published before 2000
and is not tagged MilSF

And of course, the "Authors" section of the tag browser roughly corresponds to the underlying directory structure. There is a directory for each author. The books are in a directories under that. Selecting an author in the tag browser shows the books for the author. Each book is a directory within the author directory. Selecting a book shows the formats for the book and those are the files within the book directory.

It doesn't quite work for books with multiple authors, but, that actually demonstrates the limitations of a directory structure and why calibre is so good for book management.
