I've watched almost a dozen hands-on videos today, and seen over a hundred photos, yet not one of these tech sites bothered to open a book on the damn thing even after describing the device as like a book It was the same with the iPad Pro last year and any tablet really. Reviews will show off video and games playing on the gadget but never describe the reading experience. I had to purchase the iPad Pro and load my own comics before understanding I didn't like the curved edges when displaying content.
But I digress... my initial misgivings with the Galaxy Fold was the notch and I wasn't too concerned with the crease. Well it looks like you can hide the notch with software and if you rotate the device so the notch is at the bottom right, where I usually grip a device with my right hand, then the notch shouldn't be distracting. The crease however is more worrying now. It's not so much that there is a crease as I'm quite happy to hold the Fold like a book. I now think they put the crease along the wrong axis. If the crease is often visible then it would be best to fold the screen in half in landscape mode. Instead the Fold looks a little awkward. Quote:

Android Central is reporting that Displays are breaking after just two days. They say one is fixable, but the other isn't.

It's on Samsung. Will be interesting to see if the Huawei foldable phones also have the same film and failure modes. |
