hi, I'm new to jailbreaking(), I was wondering if it was possible to downgrade the Kindle firmware 5.12.4 to the factory fw to perform the jailbreak

You can always use the serial port method on most kindles, even on that firmware. It is not all that hard if you have basic soldering skills. The tutorials on this site walk you through everything in either windows or linux.
