The book was originally published in 1983. This ebook has a review complaining about the formatting. but it was from 2016. Hopefully improvements have been made.

The same link has Mike Resnick's Paradise. I read it when it was originally released, and really liked it. Human colonists interacting with primitive alien tribes, with no Prime Directive in sight.

An important book and a genuine classic. But to be honest, I've never managed to finish it. I just didn't care for the writing and felt like I read the word 'plastic' thirty times in ten pages.

I'm like that with Dune. I've tried about three times but just can't get interested!

The C.S. Lewis sale is also on in Canada. The interesting thing is... C.S. Lewis' works are public domain in Canada. If you're Canadian, you can download the entire Narnia series for free from Gutenberg. Kobo even has a collected edition of all 7 from some enterprising self-publisher for $3.99 (a savings of $10 off of the HarperCollins ones.)

I'm still tempted to pick up the HarperCollins editions. They're illustrated.

I'm still tempted to pick up the HarperCollins editions. They're illustrated.

The illustrations are, to my mind, an integral part of the Narnia books, and the illustrator, Pauline Baynes, only died in 2008, so it will be a very long time indeed before any illustrated version is PD.

I picked up The Magician's Nephew from Kobo and it was worth the $1.99 Cdn. Now I'm feeling so tempted to pick up the other books in the series though I already have the Gutenberg.ca versions -- the layout and Pauline Bayne's illustrations are definitely a value added for me.

Edit: I crumbled and picked up the other 6 books.
